Collage for Book Art

Here's some collage I have been working on, which is useful when it comes to making Book Art and Altered Books.  It allows me a free reign to explore and make images that inspire further work.  All the collages are different - another reason to keep working on them because they may lead to new ideas.  I love working on them because they are instant and lots of fun to make.  Some of these are made at my Collage Group and are thought up on the spur of the moment which I find helpful because often I think a lot about what I'm going to do before committing myself to a piece of work.  To work in different ways seems to help the process of creating new work.

There are only two 3D images, the rest are 2D.  I do prefer making work which is 3D, although have enjoyed the 2D process too.

Collage and Book Art

Although my art work generally focuses on 'book art' these days, I have made other work in the past which I will post on here in due course.  The above piece of work called 'Chick lit with a spine' is a form of book art in its unconventional role, and puts it together with Collage work that I also do.  I belong to a Collage group which meets regularly and we very much enjoy our sessions where we can produce new work and then critique our own pieces and take it in turns to hear what thoughts the others have on our newly completed work.  We have a great time sticking, thinking, drawing, painting, combining and producing new pieces of work.

Visual journals

I have recently started a set of visual journal/sketchbook sessions with Clare Nias who also runs Flying Books, which are small sketchbooks which are shared around.  The pages are created by a number of people who work to a theme.  Clare has some brilliant ideas for the books and the themes.

Beginner ....

A new blog which I am trying out for the first time.  Images will follow as and when I get around to posting them.
